
Patrick Marleau assisted on the Sharks opening goal at 11:57 of the first period. Despite a good effort on the behalf of the Sharks, the Detroit Red Wings went on to win 4-3. The Sharks next face the LA Kings on Wednesday the 22nd at the San Jose Arena.
Patrick Marleau, along with Jeff Friesen, Marco Sturm, Alexander Korolyuk and Niklas Sundstrom, are featured in a December 19th issue of Sports Illustrated in an article entitled "Merry Men - The Sharks are no longer going in circles thanks to a core of forwards under age 25 who form the NHL's most talented young quintet." The article features a large photo of the quintet taken on the carousel in the park across the street from the San Jose Arena.
Patrick Marleau won the Fastest Skater competition in the San Jose Sharks 1999 FedEx/NHL super Skills Competition held Friday the 17th at the San Jose Arena. Patrick is now the second fastest skater in the NHL in the competition behind Mark Recchi of the Philadelphia Flyers.
Patrick Marleau did a little bit of everything for his parents visiting at the San Jose Arena last night. Patrick assisted on the power-play go ahead goal at 14:04 of the second period. He then helped put the game in the bag with his own goal at 7:26 of the third. Patrick then headed to the showers early after a fighting major with less than four minutes to play.
